About Oman Air

Oman Air is the flag carrier of Oman and a oneworld member since 2025, flying from Muscat to Salalah, the Gulf, India, Asia, East Africa and Europe. Since April 2026, Economy Super Saver includes a 20 kg checked bag on routes to the Indian subcontinent, with 30 kg on Comfort and 40 kg on Flex. This guide covers the fares, baggage, power bank rules, Muscat airport, Sindbad and how Oman Air compares with Qatar Airways and Emirates.

Oman Air was founded in 1993 and is based in Muscat. It joined oneworld on 30 June 2025 and is known for calm, spacious cabins and Omani hospitality, including dates and cardamom coffee.

Power Bank Rules on Oman Air

Oman Air’s lithium battery rules are strict:

  • A maximum of two power banks per passenger under the ICAO rules in force since 27 March 2026.
  • Power banks must be carried in hand luggage only, never in checked bags.
  • Power banks cannot be used or charged during the flight.
  • Damaged or unlabelled power banks are not allowed.
  • Phones and tablets can be charged from the aircraft’s own charging ports, but must stay under your supervision.
  • Smart bags with non-removable batteries cannot be checked in, and hoverboards and mini-scooters are banned.

Check-In and Muscat Airport

Online check-in is available on the website and app. Muscat International Airport’s terminal is modern, spacious and usually quick to get through.

Allow at least three hours for international departures, especially to India during holiday periods. A long layover is a good chance to see Muscat.

Families and Special Assistance

Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and bassinets are available on long-haul flights. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance in advance.
