About Syrian Air

Syrian Air (Syrian Arab Airlines) is Syria’s national airline, flying Airbus A320s from Damascus to the Gulf, Turkey and Europe. US sanctions on the airline were lifted in June 2025, and in October 2026 it relaunched as Syrian Airlines with plans for 12 aircraft and 25 destinations by year-end. This guide covers routes, baggage, travel advice and how Syrian Air compares with Royal Jordanian and Middle East Airlines.

Syrian Arab Airlines traces its history to 1946 and is based in Damascus. After the US Treasury removed it from its sanctions list in June 2025, and the US and EU began lifting Syria sanctions, it regained access to aircraft leasing, maintenance and insurance.
