About Uzbekistan Airways

Uzbekistan Airways is the national airline of Uzbekistan, flying from Tashkent to Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and New York. Economy fares include an 8 kg cabin bag, and Smart and Comfort fares add checked baggage. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in at Tashkent, Silk Road travel and how it compares with Air Astana and Turkish Airlines.

The airline was founded in 1992 after Uzbekistan’s independence. It flies Boeing 787 Dreamliners on long-haul routes and Airbus A320neo-family jets on regional routes, and is renewing its fleet.

Power Bank Rules on Uzbekistan Airways

Uzbekistan Airways follows the ICAO power bank rules in force worldwide since 27 March 2026:

  • Carry power banks in cabin baggage only, never in checked bags.
  • Up to 100 Wh is allowed without approval; 100–160 Wh needs approval from the airline.
  • A maximum of two power banks per passenger, kept within reach. They cannot be recharged on board, and ICAO advises against using them to charge other devices during the flight.

Check-In at Tashkent

Arrive at least three hours before international flights, as Tashkent’s airport has several security and passport checks. Counters usually close 60 minutes before departure. Domestic flights use a separate terminal.

Families and Special Assistance

Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap with their own 10 kg bag on most fares. Bassinets can be requested on long-haul flights. Wheelchairs and other special assistance should be requested at least 48 hours in advance.

Silk Road Travel

Uzbekistan’s historic cities are the main draw:

  • Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva are UNESCO World Heritage cities.
  • Domestic flights save long drives, and high-speed trains link Tashkent with Samarkand and Bukhara.
  • Many nationalities can visit Uzbekistan visa-free.

Spring and autumn are the best seasons, as summers are very hot.
