Fiji Airways is the flag carrier of Fiji and a oneworld member, linking the islands with Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific, North America and Asia from its hub in Nadi. This guide covers check-in at Nadi, power bank rules, families, cheap flights, AAdvantage and how Fiji Airways compares with Qantas and Air New Zealand.
The airline was founded in 1951, flew as Air Pacific from 1971 and returned to its original name in 2013. It is headquartered in Nadi, close to Fiji’s main resort areas, and became a full oneworld member in April 2025.

Fiji Airways follows the ICAO power bank rules in force worldwide since 27 March 2026:
Online check-in is available before departure on many routes. Nadi International Airport is relaxed and compact, but allow at least two and a half hours for international departures.
Fiji Link flights to Suva and the smaller islands use a separate domestic area, so leave time if you are connecting. Cyclone season (roughly November to April) can disrupt flights, so build in some flexibility.
Fiji is a family favourite. Infants under two can travel on an adult’s lap, and bassinets are available on long-haul flights.
Special assistance should be requested in advance. Fiji has strict animal import rules, so pets need careful planning. Divers and surfers should book sports equipment ahead.

All three fly between Fiji, Australia and New Zealand.
