ANA (All Nippon Airways) is Japan’s largest airline and a Star Alliance member, flying from Tokyo Haneda and Narita across Japan and to Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania. Every passenger can bring 10 kg of carry-on, but Economy checked bags range from none to two 23 kg pieces depending on the fare. This guide covers baggage, excess fees, Japan’s 2026 power bank rules, Haneda terminals and how ANA compares with JAL and Singapore Airlines.
ANA began in 1952 and took the name All Nippon Airways in 1957. Today it is Japan’s largest airline, a Star Alliance member since 1999, and owns the low-cost airline Peach.

Japan’s transport ministry (MLIT) tightened power bank rules from 24 April 2026, and ANA applies them:
The limit may fall to 100 Wh from January 2027, so check before you buy a new power bank.
Online check-in opens 24 hours before international departures on the website and app. Domestic flights offer fast check-in with a QR code or IC card at many airports.
At Haneda, ANA’s international flights use Terminal 3 and domestic flights Terminal 2. Allow time to move between terminals by free shuttle bus.
The A380 “Flying Honu” between Tokyo and Honolulu is popular with families, and bassinets and children’s meals can be requested in advance. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance when you book.
