About Azul Brazilian Airlines

Azul is a Brazilian airline serving more destinations in Brazil than any other, from its main hub in Campinas, plus flights to the US and Europe. It is known for free snacks and live TV on many domestic flights. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in at Campinas, its 2026 restructuring and how it compares with LATAM and GOL.

Founded in 2008 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, it flies Embraer E-Jets, ATR turboprops and Airbus A320neo and A330 aircraft. It left Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2026 after cutting its debt.

Power Bank Rules on Azul

New international (ICAO) rules apply from 27 March 2026:

  • Each passenger can carry up to two power banks, in cabin baggage only, never in checked bags.
  • Power banks cannot be charged on board, and you cannot use them to charge phones or other devices during the flight.
  • Up to 100 Wh needs no approval; 100–160 Wh needs approval from the airline. Keep them within reach, not in the overhead bin.

Check-In at Campinas

Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure. Campinas Viracopos is about 100 km from São Paulo, and the airline runs free buses from several points in the city for passengers.

Families and Special Assistance

Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and pushchairs and car seats can usually be checked in free. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance at least 48 hours before the flight.

Getting to Campinas from São Paulo

Viracopos is outside São Paulo, but easy to reach:

  • The airline’s free bus runs from several points in São Paulo for passengers with tickets.
  • Allow at least 90 minutes in traffic.
  • Many connections at Campinas reach small cities other airlines don’t serve.
