About Jet2

Jet2 is a UK leisure airline flying from more than a dozen British airports to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and the Canary Islands. Every fare includes a 10 kg cabin bag, and its sister company Jet2holidays sells package holidays. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in, package holidays and how it compares with easyJet and TUI.

The airline grew out of Channel Express, a cargo airline, and started passenger flights from Leeds Bradford in 2003. It flies Boeing 737s and new Airbus A321neos.

Power Bank Rules on Jet2

New international (ICAO) rules apply from 27 March 2026, and European airlines follow them:

  • Each passenger can carry up to two power banks, in cabin baggage only, never in checked bags.
  • Power banks cannot be charged on board, and you cannot use them to charge phones or other devices during the flight.
  • Up to 100 Wh needs no approval; 100–160 Wh needs approval from the airline. Keep them within reach, not in the overhead bin.

Check-In at UK Airports

Online check-in opens 28 days before departure. Bag drop opens three hours before the flight and closes 40 minutes before. Families on package holidays get help from airport staff at many UK bases.

Families and Special Assistance

Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and pushchairs and car seats can usually be checked in free. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance at least 48 hours before the flight.

Package Holidays

Booking flights and a hotel together has benefits:

  • Packages include a 22 kg bag and transfers to most hotels.
  • UK package holidays have ATOL financial protection.
  • Small deposits are available for many holidays.

  • Pre-book bags, as airport prices are higher.
  • Look at winter sun to the Canary Islands for good value.
  • Compare airlines: use the FlightSelects flight search to see its fares next to easyJet, Ryanair and others.
