easyJet is one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, flying from London Gatwick and bases across the UK and Europe. Every fare includes a free 45 × 36 × 20 cm under-seat bag, while a large 56 × 45 × 25 cm cabin bag comes with certain seats or as an add-on. This guide covers bag sizes and gate checks, check-in, 2026 power bank rules, easyJet Plus and how easyJet compares with Ryanair and Wizz Air.
easyJet was founded in 1995 and is based at London Luton Airport. It flies an all-Airbus fleet from bases across the UK and Europe and also sells package holidays.

Online check-in is free and opens up to 30 days before departure on the website and app, and mobile boarding passes work at most airports.
Bag drop usually closes 40 minutes before departure and gates close 30 minutes before, so do not cut it fine at busy airports such as Gatwick.
New international (ICAO) rules for 2026, in force in the UK from 27 March 2026, apply to easyJet flights:
Keep power banks in your under-seat bag so they stay with you if a larger bag is sent to the hold.
Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and families can choose seats together. Only assistance dogs are carried, on many routes, and special assistance should be requested in advance.

All three are low-cost airlines with a free under-seat bag and paid extras.

Gatwick is about 45 km south of central London. The Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Southern trains run to London, and coaches serve many UK cities.
You can also book an airport transfer in advance at a fixed price.
Yes, for short trips around Europe. easyJet flies to main airports more often than most rivals, has a roomier free bag and runs frequent flights. Watch the bag rules and price in any extras before you compare fares.

Seats are allocated free at check-in if you don't pay to choose. Up Front and Extra Legroom seats come with a large cabin bag and Speedy Boarding, and can cost about the same as a cabin bag alone.
Every passenger can bring one under-seat bag of up to 45 × 36 × 20 cm, with no weight limit as long as you can lift it yourself. It is larger than Ryanair's and Wizz Air's free bag (40 × 30 × 20 cm), so a small backpack often fits. A large cabin bag (56 × 45 × 25 cm) comes with Up Front or Extra Legroom seats or easyJet Plus, or can be added for a fee.
Hold bags come in 15 kg and 23 kg sizes. Bags are measured at the gate, and an oversized bag goes in the hold for a fee, so book the bags you need early.
The airline doesn't run a points-based frequent flyer programme. easyJet Plus is a paid annual membership with benefits such as free seat selection, a large cabin bag, dedicated bag drop and fast track at some airports.
