Vueling is a Spanish low-cost airline based in Barcelona and part of IAG, flying across Spain, Europe and North Africa. Every fare includes a free under-seat bag, Optima adds a cabin bag or a checked bag, and since 2026 the Vueling Club earns Avios in tiers. This guide covers the fares, bag sizes and fees, power bank rules, the new Avios tiers and how Vueling compares with Ryanair and easyJet.
Vueling was founded in 2004 and is based in El Prat de Llobregat, next to Barcelona Airport. It is part of IAG with British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus, and sells some connections with Iberia and British Airways.

Vueling follows the ICAO rules that European airlines have applied since 27 March 2026:
Online check-in is available on the website and app. Most Barcelona flights use Terminal 1. Arrive at least two hours before departure in summer, when the airport is very busy.

All three are low-cost airlines with free under-seat bags and paid extras.

Vueling sells Basic, Optima, TimeFlex and Family fares. Basic includes only an under-seat bag; Optima adds a seat and one bag, either a cabin bag or a checked bag, not both; TimeFlex adds a cabin bag, priority and free changes; Family includes a cabin bag, a 25 kg checked bag and any seat. Fare names can vary slightly by market.
Basic and Optima charge for changes, while TimeFlex includes free changes. EU261 may apply for long delays and cancellations.
On Basic fares, a seat is assigned at check-in unless you pay to choose; Optima, TimeFlex and Family include seat selection. Extra-legroom Space seats can be bought on most flights, and snacks and drinks are sold on board.
Every fare includes a free under-seat bag of 40 × 30 × 20 cm. A cabin bag of 55 × 40 × 20 cm and 10 kg (the weight limit is enforced) is included on TimeFlex and Family, can be chosen on Optima, and costs roughly €10–59 online on Basic.
Checked bags are sold online in 15, 20, 25 and 30 kg sizes from about €10, up to 32 kg and 158 cm. Prices vary by route and date, and buying bags at the airport costs much more.
Since January 2026, the Vueling Club works in tiers. New members earn no Avios until they reach Smart (3 Vueling flights or €200 spent in a year), then get 500 bonus Avios and earn 3 Avios per euro.
