Air Europa is Spain’s third-largest airline and a SkyTeam member, flying from Madrid across Spain and Europe and to the Americas and the Caribbean. Every Economy fare includes a 10 kg cabin bag, and its biggest strength is flights between Madrid and Latin America. This guide covers baggage, fares, power bank rules, Madrid tips, SUMA and how Air Europa compares with Iberia and Turkish Airlines.
Air Europa was founded in 1986 and belongs to the Spanish Globalia group, with its head office in Mallorca. After IAG dropped its takeover in 2024, Turkish Airlines agreed in August 2025 to buy a 26% stake, with the Hidalgo family keeping control.

Air Europa follows the ICAO rules applied by European airlines since 27 March 2026:
Larger batteries need the airline’s approval, so check before you fly.
Online check-in is available on the website and app. Air Europa flies from Terminal 2 at Madrid–Barajas, while Iberia uses Terminal 4, so check your terminal when connecting between the two.
Allow at least three hours for long-haul departures, which often need document checks at the counter.
Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, bassinets are available on long-haul 787 flights, and special assistance should be requested at least 48 hours before departure.

All three sell flights between Europe and Latin America, Air Europa and Iberia from Madrid.
