Iberia is Spain’s flag carrier and a oneworld member, flying from Madrid–Barajas Terminal 4 across Spain and Europe and to more Latin American cities than any other European airline. Every fare, even Basic, includes a 10 kg cabin bag, while Classic and Flexible add a checked bag. This guide covers the fares, baggage, power bank limits, Madrid T4 tips, Iberia Club and how Iberia compares with British Airways and Air Europa.
Iberia was founded in 1927 and is based in Madrid. It was a founding member of oneworld in 1999 and has been part of International Airlines Group (IAG), alongside British Airways, Aer Lingus and Vueling, since 2011.

Iberia sets clear limits on power banks and spare batteries:
Online check-in is available on the website and app. Airport counters open 24 hours before departure in Madrid, and at other airports 4 hours before long-haul and 2 hours before short- and medium-haul flights.
Terminal 4 has two buildings: T4 for Spanish and Schengen flights, and the T4S satellite for non-Schengen and long-haul flights, linked by an underground train. Allow time for passport control when connecting from Europe to the Americas.
Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and bassinets are available on long-haul flights. Small dogs and cats can travel in the cabin on many flights when booked ahead. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance in advance.

All three are full-service airlines with strong networks to the Americas.

On short- and medium-haul routes Iberia sells Economy as Basic, Classic and Flexible; long-haul flights add Premium Economy and Business. Basic includes hand luggage only, no advance seat choice and no changes or refunds. Classic adds a checked bag and seat choice, with changes for a fee, and Flexible adds free changes, refunds for a fee and priority boarding.
Your ticket shows the bag allowance as a code: 0PC means no free checked bag and 1PC means one. When you change, you pay any difference in fare plus any change fee for your fare type.
You can choose a seat when booking or at check-in; on Basic fares, choosing in advance costs extra. Business Class on long-haul aircraft has lie-flat seats, and Business passengers can use the Velázquez lounge at Madrid T4.
Extra bags cost less when added online than at the airport.
Unlike many European airlines, Iberia includes a full-size cabin bag even on Basic: up to 56 × 40 × 25 cm and 10 kg in Economy and Premium Economy, plus a personal item of up to 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Business allows 14 kg (two 14 kg bags on long-haul). On full flights Iberia may check your cabin bag free of charge, and on Air Nostrum (Iberia Regional) flights it is handed in at the aircraft door.
Basic doesn't include a checked bag. Classic and Flexible include one 23 kg bag, with more in Premium Economy and Business. Checked bags can measure up to 158 cm in total, extra bags are sold as 15, 23 or 32 kg pieces, and adding them online costs less than at the airport.
