About Binter Canarias

Binter Canarias is the airline of the Canary Islands, linking all seven islands and flying to mainland Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and West Africa. Every fare includes an 8 kg cabin bag and a free snack. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in, island-hopping and how it compares with Iberia and Ryanair.

Founded in 1989 as an inter-island airline, it now flies Embraer E195-E2 jets and ATR 72 turboprops and started flights to Madrid in 2024.

Power Bank Rules on Binter Canarias

New international (ICAO) rules apply from 27 March 2026, and European airlines follow them:

  • Each passenger can carry up to two power banks, in cabin baggage only, never in checked bags.
  • Power banks cannot be charged on board, and you cannot use them to charge phones or other devices during the flight.
  • Up to 100 Wh needs no approval; 100–160 Wh needs approval from the airline. Keep them within reach, not in the overhead bin.

Check-In in the Canary Islands

Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure. Inter-island flights are short and airports are small, but arrive at least one hour before domestic flights and two hours before international flights.

Families and Special Assistance

Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap, and pushchairs and car seats can usually be checked in free. Request wheelchairs and other special assistance at least 48 hours before the flight.

Island-Hopping in the Canaries

Short flights make it easy to visit more than one island:

  • La Palma and La Gomera are green and quiet, ideal for hiking.
  • Lanzarote and Fuerteventura have volcanic landscapes and long beaches.
  • El Hierro is the smallest and most remote island.
