SpiceJet is an Indian low-cost airline flying from Delhi and other Indian cities across the country and to the Gulf. Every fare includes a 7 kg cabin bag and most include 15 kg of checked baggage on domestic flights, while bundles such as SpiceMax add legroom and meals. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in, the airline’s smaller network and how it compares with IndiGo and Akasa Air.
The airline started flying in 2005 and was once India’s second-largest airline. Financial difficulties have shrunk its fleet of Boeing 737 and Q400 aircraft, and it now flies fewer routes than before while it rebuilds.

India’s aviation regulator, the DGCA, tightened the rules in January 2026:
Web check-in opens 48 hours before departure, and counters close 60 minutes before domestic flights and earlier for international flights. Arrive at least two hours early at Delhi and Mumbai. DigiYatra can speed up entry at major airports.
Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap. Seats together can be bought at booking. Wheelchairs and other special assistance should be requested at least 48 hours before the flight.
The airline has cut many routes in recent years:

Indira Gandhi International Airport is about 15 km southwest of central Delhi. The Airport Express Metro links Terminal 3 with New Delhi station in about 20 minutes, and taxis and ride-hailing apps serve all terminals.
You can also book an airport transfer in advance at a fixed price.
It can offer low fares and useful routes to smaller cities such as Srinagar and Patna, but its network is smaller and delays and cancellations are more common than on rivals.
If reliability matters most, compare it with IndiGo and Akasa Air before booking.
