Uzbekistan Airways is the national airline of Uzbekistan, flying from Tashkent to Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and New York. Economy fares include an 8 kg cabin bag, and Smart and Comfort fares add checked baggage. This guide covers power bank rules, check-in at Tashkent, Silk Road travel and how it compares with Air Astana and Turkish Airlines.
The airline was founded in 1992 after Uzbekistan’s independence. It flies Boeing 787 Dreamliners on long-haul routes and Airbus A320neo-family jets on regional routes, and is renewing its fleet.

Uzbekistan Airways follows the ICAO power bank rules in force worldwide since 27 March 2026:
Arrive at least three hours before international flights, as Tashkent’s airport has several security and passport checks. Counters usually close 60 minutes before departure. Domestic flights use a separate terminal.
Infants under two travel on an adult’s lap with their own 10 kg bag on most fares. Bassinets can be requested on long-haul flights. Wheelchairs and other special assistance should be requested at least 48 hours in advance.
Uzbekistan’s historic cities are the main draw:
Spring and autumn are the best seasons, as summers are very hot.

You can also book an airport transfer in advance at a fixed price.
It offers useful direct flights from Tashkent, including to New York, and a modernising fleet, though service and punctuality are less consistent than on larger airlines.
