Tunisair is Tunisia’s flag carrier, flying from Tunis, Djerba and Monastir to France, Italy, Germany, North and West Africa and the Middle East. Economy passengers can bring an 8 kg cabin bag, students get 30% off and 32 kg of baggage, and the fleet was planned to reach about 14 aircraft for summer 2026. This guide covers baggage, power bank rules, Fidelys and how Tunisair compares with Royal Air Maroc and EgyptAir.
Tunisair was founded in 1948 and is Tunisia’s state-owned flag carrier. It carries many holidaymakers and Tunisians living in Europe, and summer is its busiest season.

Tunisair has struggled with an ageing fleet and delays, but traffic is recovering: passenger numbers rose 9% in the first quarter of 2026. Two leased aircraft were due in mid-June 2026 and a third in mid-August, giving about 14 aircraft for the summer peak.
Students get 30% off fares all year and a higher 32 kg checked allowance, and families of more than three people get extra discounts.
Tunisair follows the ICAO power bank rules in force worldwide since 27 March 2026:
Online check-in is available on some routes. Tunis–Carthage is very busy in July and August, so arrive three hours before international flights. Delays are common in peak season: on flights from the EU, EU261 rules may give you compensation, so keep your boarding pass.
